A 4 kW solar system was installed in July of 2009 on a house in Kitty Hawk on the beach road. This system generates electricity that is sold back into the grid through an arrangement with Dominion NC Power. The electricity sold is monitored and then payments are made back to the owners by both Dominion Power and NC Green Power. These payments exceed the per watt price being used by the home, especially since the rental home has low electrical demand during the winter months.
