Visualizing Energy Creation Generates Conservation Awareness

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

Recently the New York Times published an article about Windspires being installed in front of the City Hall in Copenhagen. While some energy is being generated and offset, the primary goal is to create energy conservation.

One of the people quoted suggests the concept is the same as having city dwellers consider where milk comes from… seeing how energy is produced creates an awareness of how energy is used.

I think this is true. If I see a wind turbine operating, I am far more likely to think about how I use energy. Do I minimize my and my family’s energy usage? Wind turbines, large or small, as energy generators, provide food for thought.

Windspire mentioned in 2009 Clean Energy Roundup Article

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

The Mariah Windspire wind turbine is mentioned in an “This Year in Clean Energy”…

“Congressional leadership has driven both energy and climate legislation; and even allowing a temporary installation of two U.S.-made wind turbines (one by Mariah Power and the other by Southwest Windpower) to remain at the base of the U.S. Capitol on the grounds of the U.S. botanical gardens — clearly symbolic of the commitment to clean energy technologies.”
